My Teachers

I feel incredibly blessed to have a good fortune to study with amazing teachers. I feel forever touched by their wisdom and I offer my heartfelt gratitude for the gifts they share(d) with the world.

Yogi Amrit Desai (Gurudev)

Yogi Amrit Desai (Gurudev)

Gurudev Shri Amritji (Yogi Amrit Desai) is one of the pioneers who brought authentic yoga to America from India in the early 1960s. He is a founder of Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, Massachusetts, USA. Gurudev has developed a unique system of yoga that was born out of his personal awakening experience in 1971. I feel blessed to have a fortune to study with a living guru at Amrit Yoga Institute, which I consider to be my spiritual home. After several years of intense practice, I was initiated into this lineage of love and light in 2015 and was given a spiritual name “Punita” by Yogi Amrit Desai. One of my favorite quotes from Gurudev is: "What you learn from silence you'll never learn from your mind".

Kamini Desai, P.hD.

Kamini Desai, P.hD.

Kamini is a brilliant teacher and embodiment of the ancient teachings of yoga who beautifully combined the art and science of yoga with the modern psychology. I feel so blessed to learn from Kamini in my yoga, yoga therapy and yoga Nidra trainings. The main lesson I learned from Kamini is that I am already whole and complete. All I need is to do is step fully into my presence and let my heart shine and show me the way. One of my favorite quotes from Kamini is: "Within you resides an Inner Source of unimaginable power. Let's discover it."

Chandrakant

Chandrakant

Chandrakant Is brilliant, funny and as authentic and straight forward as can be. He has distilled more than three decades of practice and study with Gurudev into simple, engaging teachings designed to help students enter the next level of practice. Chandrakant was my main teacher in Meditation in Motion training and he is the teacher who taught me how to take my yoga off the yoga mat and live every moment with devotion and as a meditation in motion.

Winnie Edgerton

Winnie Edgerton

Thanks to this amazing woman, I fell in love with yoga from the first breath. I feel forever grateful to Winnie for showing me the path of non-judgment and living with a brave open compassionate heart.

Christine Eartheart

Christine Eartheart

My incredible Reiki teacher and dear sister-friend who teaches me daily how to live my life with more joy and see the good in every person and the blessings in every situation. Christine's heart shines so brightly sprinkling the magic in everything she does and into everyone's heart that she touches. My favorite quote of Christine: "There are gifts in everyone and everything if we see them".

Goenka & Vipassana Meditation

Goenka & Vipassana Meditation

Gfoenka's teachings exposed me to meditation practice for the very first time in this life through a 10-day silent meditation retreat in March of 2009. I am convinced that those 10 days in silence changed the entire course of my life! Since that profound experience my perceptions of the world and of myself have not been the same. The experience of lightness and openheartedness literally blew my mind!

Shambhala Meditation

Shambhala Meditation

Shambhala Meditation takes its name from a legendary kingdom famous for being an enlightened society. Through participating in Shambhala 5 level training in 2010- 2011, I connected more deeply to the basic goodness in myself and in all beings. It helped me cultivate kindness, bravery and genuine connection, as well as more deeply root in living life as an openhearted warrior.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living

Sri Sri's mission and The Art of Living Courses helped me connect to my innocence and child-like nature. They Inspired me to trust that my acts of kindness and good deeds touch many souls and heal the planet one person, one kind act at a time.

Women’s Circles & My Spiritual families in Bloomington and @ Amrit Yoga Institute

Women’s Circles & My Spiritual families in Bloomington and @ Amrit Yoga Institute

Sitting in women’s circles with women from all over the world has been heart-expanding and mind-blowing. I never imagined how profoundly healing it would be to sit in a circle with other women while sharing our hearts. They taught me how to accept myself more fully and how to accept our differences, our quirks, our wounds, our pains and how to celebrate each other for the unique gifts that we bring to the world. Showing my vulnerability and releasing the barriers to my heart healed so many of my false perception of being "not good". I feel particularly grateful to my Divine Entrainment Sisters Christine, Jaimie and Matece who I love with all of my heart.

My Hubby Gavrusha

My Hubby Gavrusha

My intimate relationship with Gabriel presents constant opportunities to practice yoga off the mat. Gabriel’s gentleness and openness help me daily to let go of my ego and all that craziness in my head that stands in the way of me experiencing unconditional Love. Gabriel constantly teaches me how to soften and to open my heart to be a better lover to the world. I am deeply grateful for the painful places that our vulnerability with each other has taken us over the years, as well as ecstasy, overflowing joy and daily doses of goofiness that Gabriel brings out in me.

My beautiful family

My beautiful family

My family has been a solid backbone and support throughout my whole life. I am grateful to my family for installing in me a never-ending quest for truth, zest for adventures and inspirations and love for cultures and sciences. Though loving, my family did not understand or support my spiritual quests. It only helped me further listen and trust the true calling of my soul. I accepted these first perceived obstacles as opportunities for deepening my connection to the Source of Love, Truth and Happiness within me.

Animals and Nature

Animals and Nature

Animals and Mother Nature have always been my greatest teachers and my refuge. They were always a deep source of inspiration, wisdom, healing and connection to something greater than myself. Connection with nature and animals has been my first love and experience of wholeness since I was a child. Now nature presents a healing ground for me to remember that I am not my thoughts or emotions, or the ego-mind where discontentments and conflicts reside. This precious love of mine in this picture is Tiny and you might see her in your private session or women's circles in our home - she is a truly healing presence.
